Official Vivek2024 Rebel Scum Since 1776 Shirt

Jennifer Lopez’s summer 2023 style mood can be broadly summarized as experimental. The eternal queen of the platform wedge has been mixing it up on the wardrobe front in recent weeks, even making a rare foray into the world of minimalism—and flats!—in LA last month. Lopez, whose luxury tastes tend to err on the OTT side (Dior book totes, Versace denim), took a surprising left turn into Chanel territory, adding a pair of its loafers to a classic tank and tailored trousers in an uncharacteristically muted palette of black and white. Now, the star has switched it up once again, stepping out with her husband Ben Affleck in an outfit with more than a hint of ’70s boho about it. She swapped her usual denim for a pair of Chloé flares in brown corduroy (does it get more ’70s than brown corduroy?), adding a gently cropped white tee, appropriately retro aviator shades and a flicky blow out to rival Farrah Fawcett’s.

Of course, Lopez draws the line at the decade’s more granola ish footwear trends. No Birkenstocks here—rather, J Lo styled her otherwise nostalgic outfit with a pair of dangerously high Gucci platform pumps. Less Woodstock, more Studio 54. The finishing touch? A nothing quiet about it luxury handbag in the form of her tan chamois leather Hermès Birkin, which will set you back around $30,000, should you be in the market for something similar. Musician Erykah Badu—who also goes by, as Badu tells Vogue, “She ill”— has made reinvention a mainstay of her decades spanning career. Starting with her lauded debut in 1997, the star has embraced deeply personal forms of afro centric fashion through kente cloth, headwraps, traditional African jewelry, and pieces by independent designers of color. In a new Life in Looks video for Vogue, Badu revisits some of her most iconic outfits over the years and shares some of the secrets behind her frequently self styled and curated ensembles.
